Six segments within the country seems like a lot for a 15 day trip. However, given the immensity of the country and the distances we'll be traveling, there's really no other options.

The trip from Uluru to Alice Springs is either a 45 minute jet ride or a 6 hour bus ride through the outback. No real comparison to hopping on a plane.
